VOYD Principal
Voyd trained at The Arts Educational School in Tring. At the age of 16 she graduated and began work in London with Arlene Phillips. Voyd has had a long and close working relationship with Arlene, working on many projects with her both as a dancer and as her assistant.
In the early part of her career, Voyd worked on numerous music videos with such artists as; The Pet Shop Boys, Duran Duran, Uriah Heap, Cliff Richard and Dépêche Mode. TV projects include working with Ken Russell, Martin Sheen and Clarke Peters. Film and cabaret also played a part in her career, appearing in films such as Monty Python’s The Meaning of Life, Give My Regards to Broadstreet with Paul McCartney, and performing in Arlene Phillip’s iconic dance group Hot Gossip.
Theatre has always played a large role in Voyd’s life, appearing in Masquerade at The Young Vic and A Clockwork Orange with The Royal Shakespeare Company. She was offered a part in the original production of Starlight Express working again with Arlene and of course Andrew Lloyd Webber and Trevor Nunn. Voyd went on to play all the female leads as well as assisting Arlene in recreating the production in Germany, Japan and Las Vegas.
On film and TV Voyd has worked with many choreographers including, Jeff Richer, Anthony Van Laast, Flick Colby (Top of the Pops), Chrissie Cartwright, Molly Molloy, adverts (Pepsi and Fiat), and of course West End Theatre.
Since beginning teaching Voyd has taught in many prestigious schools including: London Studio Centre, Bodywork, Tring Park, Elmhurst Ballet School, Pineapple Dance Studios, and Danceworks. Voyd has also taught master classes in Europe and was invited by the Brazilian Government to work with under privileged children in Brazil. She has been an integral part of the course in Swindon for 17 years and under her direction the college continues to flourish, inspiring many dancers of the future. |
